Karl Sim was a talented painter but he didn't turn his hand to originals it was recreations or forgeries where his talent lay. In fact in the 80s he was arrested for selling forgeries.
After his arrest Karl changed his name to Carl F Goldie so he could sign forgeries of his work as CF Goldie.
Karl/Carl lived his life in Foxton and built a bit of a reputation/notoriety for himself in New Zealand folklore.
Some of Karl's work appeared onsite recently with a whopping $120,000 price tag.
Unfortunately Karl's work didn't find a keen buyer but the NZ Herald did cover the auction.
