One of the enduring images of the recent earthquakes was three cows stranded on a quake-made island, surrounded by utter destruction.
The lucky bovines had managed to avoid all the slips, but were marooned high above what used to be their paddock.
Fortunately their farmer managed to get them down and they are happily chewing grass once more.
To raise money for the Red Cross Earthquake appeal, a very talented Trade Me member has immortalised the cows with a special one-off pencil sketch.
As the listing description says "...this image of the island cows has come to symbolise the isolation and destruction experienced by so many. Held together on a small heart-shaped island, united as a family and surrounded by love. Kia Kaha - stand strong New Zealand."
So far the artistic cows have attracted over 5500 views and bidding sits at $905. It's a great cause and we hope it does well for the appeal.
