Gala good times

Here at Trade Me we work with some very cool charities like Wellington Zoo, Plunket and Kiwis for kiwi but we like to help other good causes when we can.

Trade Me is the perfect place for a spot of fundraising or a cool charity auction and we've helped thousands over the years.

Recently we helped the Willow Park School Gala with a few of their very cool auctions - including a signed Richie McCaw tea cup (is a good brew Richie's key to success?)

Anne Wilkins, from Willow Park School, was kind enough to send us a really cool note that we thought we'd share.

If you have a charity event, fundraising initiative or auction that you think Trade Me might be able to help with let us know

Dear Catherine

The Willow Park School Gala Committee (on behalf of students, parents and teachers) would like to thank you for your generous support of the 2015 Gala and Gift Market.

It has been in the opinion of many, "Our best Gala ever!" The sun shone, people came and enjoyed themselves, and we raised a massive $44,000 for the school, which will enable us to complete a number of exciting projects around the school, including new shade areas, upgrades to the Senior playground, environmental improvements and purchase of IT supplies for the children.

Trademe have been fantastic and we cannot thank you enough. In previous years we have run our school auctions at School on the gala day and I was told that normally items sell for about 1/3 of their value, and numerous items do not sell. In fact our local fancy dress costume hire business had donated a costume hire voucher which hadn't sold two years running.

Putting our auction items on Trademe was a bold move for our school but it has been amazing! Thank you so much for doing this for us! Your support has been amazing: in forgoing success fees, giving us a link (trade.me/willowparkgala), telling us about "my products" and helping us out every step of the way with any question.

A highlight was when our Richie McCaw cup was accepted as a cool auction, was viewed over 3000 items and was mentioned in the NZ herald twice, and sold for an impressive $370.

Our local Tristram European even got on board and had their Volkswagen car sign written with notice of the auctions.

Our auctions have been hugely popular in our local community and have received an amazing amount of positive feedback. People have commented how easy and also how exciting it was. It also extended our auction items right across to the whole of New Zealand. Sponsors also have been happy as to how the auctions have been written and promoted.

We realise that the Gala could not have been such a success without our Trademe auctions. It was so successful that the Gala Committee hope to run our school auctions in 2016 the same way - if that is possible?

So a big THANK YOU from all of us for your very kind and very generous donation!

Kind Regards;

Anne Wilkins
