Charity auction for first Maccas delivery after level 4 lockdown

The first day of alert level 3 meant one thing for New Zealanders – takeaways were back on the table. And, unsurprisingly, an auction offering the chance to skip the McDonald’s queue and be the first to have it delivered directly to their door captured the attention of many!

In a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House, a McDonald’s Mega Share Pack was listed onsite. The pack included:

  • 2 x Big Mac®
  • 2 x McChicken®
  • 2 x Cheeseburger
  • 4 x Medium Fries
  • 4 x Medium Soft Drinks
  • 50 McNuggets & 4 Apple Pies

Kiwis were lovin’ it and the listing had 19,341 views, and 253 watchlists. After a heated final few minutes of the auction, kurt46 won the auction with a winning bid of $801. Of course, preparation and delivery was strictly contactless.

The winner said, “It was good to see McDonald's teaming up with local businesses to raise money for Ronald McDonald house who's support for families when a child is in hospital is so precious. We were happy to support the auction and the upside is the kids are looking forward to our McDonald's dinner treat."
