We've seen art of every shape, taste and description listed on Trade Me over the years but sometimes we can still be surprised.
The latest work of art that caught our eye was a framed carpet picture of Prime Minister John Key.
The piece was created by Whanganui artist Mark Rayner who was inspired after a quip by New Zealand First leader, Winston Peters, who asked the PM if the 'carpet matched the curtains'.
Apparently Winston was asking the PM if he dyed his hair but it's an inference we're not sure we understand of course. The good news is that it lead to a very entertaining auction.
The 'National Carpet' ended up attracting nearly 18,000 views and sold for almost $900.
