Knight Rider rebuild: a childhood dream come true

We all have niche interests that we're quietly passionate about, and for a lot of us we spend our lives wondering "what if?"

That's not the case for Auckland bloke Greg Hackett who, in his youth, fell in love with the American television show Knight Rider in all its 80's glory. After sitting inside a real version of the Knight Industries Two Thousand (better known as K.I.T.T) as a 10-year-old, he vowed that one day he'd have one of his very own.

Fast-forward to 2012 and that dream came true after Greg discovered a 1983 Pontiac Trans Am listed on Trade Me, placed the only bid of the auction and made good on his promise to his 10-year-old self.

Thanks to Greg for sharing his story with us, and to the team at Pukekohe Park for lending us their asphalt.
