Living in a pod is probably not for the faint hearted, or the claustrophobic, but the opportunity to rent a trendy, state-of-the-art pod appeared on Trade Me this week.
The unique one-bedroom Auckland property is in ‘a prime inner city location’ and comes with a communal kitchen and dining area to be shared with seven other pod-mates.
Reminiscent of Japan's famous capsule hotels, the pod was advertised for $200 a week complete with a flat screen TV, internet and swipe card access. In the two hours the listing was live, it received over 2,000 views and went viral across the Twitter-sphere before it was taken down.
It would certainly have been one way to score a cheaper than average room in the city! The latest Trade Me Property Rental Index shows that the median weekly rent on a typical Auckland city property is $545 a week.
This little pod caused quite a stir in the media, featuring on One News, Seven Sharp and more. We received no complaints regarding this rental property and believe the landlord gave prospective tenants a good indication of what they could expect. Luckily, you can still view the listing below.
