Taika Waititi’s armchair up for auction

An armchair previously belonging to Taika Waititi was put up for auction on Trade Me last week - with screenshots of the seller’s messages with the Oscar-winning director included in the listing to prove it's legitimacy.

Taika Waititi Armchair

Damien Hannah from Johnsonville originally bought the pre-loved chair from Trade Me for $1 in 2016. When he picked it up in Island Bay, the previous owner informed him that it once belonged to Taika and that he had even written Eagle vs Shark in it. Looking to verify the claim, Hannah sent Taika a message on social media and sure enough, the story was true.

The chair was originally listed for $1 no reserve and sold for $379 after a heated bidding war between theoracleshop and bsk231.
